If a veteran was a Navy service member and served aboard a naval vessel, then he or she is eligible if the naval vessel was assigned to Korean waters during the time period specified above. You may locate this information on the veteran's Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active duty (DD-214).

VETERANS DESIGNATIONS FOR LICENSE OR STATE IDENTIFICATION CARDS
Military veterans who served in any branch of the U.S. armed forces and have an honorable or under honorable conditions (general) discharge may have a veteran designation printed on their Michigan driver's license or state identification card. The designation is available when you apply for an original or renewal Michigan license or identification card at no additional charge. However, if added at another time, correction fees will apply.
FREE HUNTING AND FISHING LICENSES
As of March 1, 2013, any veteran who is rated 100%, permanent or totally disabled or considered by the VA to be individually unemployable (IU) may apply for a free hunting and fishing license in the State of Michigan.
