The Commission on Aging was organized in 1975 and is governed by a 10 member volunteer board, the majority of whom are 60 years of age or older. Activities and appointments to the board are overseen by the Grand Traverse County Board of Commissioners.
The Commission on Aging is funded by a small operational millage of 0.5 mills.
