Transportation

The Commission on Aging is able to offer our clients Transportation Coupons and Bay Area Transit Authority (BATA) passes.  Because Transportation Coupons/Passes have a cash value, payment in advance is required.

BATA Passes


Clients can purchase up to 4 BATA passes per year. Each pass has a value of $30. Charges for these services are determined using the sliding fee scale shown and are based on the client's income.

Transportation Coupons


Clients are able to purchase a packet of 8 transportation coupons which are valued at $5 each, up to 4 times per year. Charges for these services are determined using the sliding fee scale below and are based on the client's income.

Clients may pick from the list of companies which contract with the Commission on Aging to accept these Coupons.  See our Transportation brochure for more information.

COAST Bus

The Commission on Aging COAST Bus, is a free, dedicated bus for Seniors, paid for by the Commission on Aging, and run by BATA.  The bus runs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.  This bus has limited availability and reservations are recommended.  Residents must already be a Commission on Aging client.  Reservations can be made up to one week in advance by contacting BATA at (231) 941-2324.

Proof of Residency and Income

Clients who receive only Transportation, BATA passes or the COAST, are required to provide proof of residency and income, prior to receipt of their passes/coupons.  Clients may choose to decline providing income, however, to do so requires that we charge the client a the highest level on the sliding fee scale.
