The State of Michigan initiated an audit of Grand Traverse County land parcels with Principal Residency Exemptions in 2012, 2013, and 2014.
If you receive a bill for just 18 mils for the School Operating Millage, your PRE was probably denied by the State of Michigan. If your exemption is lost, you can appeal it to the State of Michigan, but it could take up to a year to get it reversed. If you have any questions, please feel free to call us here at the county or your local township assessor.
