The Robert P. Griffin Hall of Justice is located on the south side of Washington Street east of the Historic Courthouse, half way between Boardman Avenue and Cass Street.
Due to the successful implementation of e-filing by the 13th Circuit Court, the County Clerk's Circuit Court Records and the Family Court Records staff have been combined into one office located on the 2nd Floor in the Hall of Justice. Effective Wednesday, February 5, 2014, all new cases for 13th Circuit Court are filed in one convenient location. Please call (231) 922-4710 for further information or if you need access to a casefile. Many of our records are imaged and can be viewed at the public terminals in the Hall of Justice.
The 13th Circuit Court Administration Offices and Courtrooms continue to be located at the Historic Courthouse.
In general, civil cases involving claims for damages in excess of $25,000 are filed in Circuit Court Records Division as well as review of administrative agency decisions, appeals from the District Court, civil matters regarding titles to property, criminal felony cases and divorces without minor children.
In 2001, the Grand Traverse County Family Court Records Division of the 13th Circuit Court was established in compliance with MCL 600.1011. Since that date, the Family Court Records Division has accepted filing in matters of divorces involving minor children, paternity and family support actions, petitions for personal protection orders and legal name changes. Additionally, Family Court Records Division maintains all records for adoptions, emancipation of minors, parental consent waivers, juvenile offenses, and abuse and neglect matters that were previously handled through Probate Court.
E-Filing Now Mandatory
