About the Commission on Aging
|*||The Commission on Aging was organized in 1975.|
|*||Employees of the Commission on Aging are fingerprinted and background checks are conducted on an annual basis.|
|*||The Commission on Aging is governed by a fifteen member volunteer board, the majority of whom are 60 years of age or older.|
Activities and appointments to the Board are overseen by Grand Traverse County Board of Commissioners.
The Commission on Aging is funded, almost solely, by a small local millage (0.5 mills for In-Home Services and 0.1 mills for the Senior Center Network in 2010).
