Welcome to the Grand Traverse County Register of Deeds Website
The mission of the Grand Traverse County Register of Deeds Office is to provide timely, secure and accurate recording services that are delivered in a prompt and courteous manner.
The Register of Deeds is the official recording office for all land records in Grand Traverse County. We are responsible for receiving, recording, scanning and delivering of the following: deeds, mortgages, satisfactions, UCC/Financing statements, assignments, tax liens, sheriff deeds, and many other types of documents that pertain to real property.
All records are available to the public, with the exception of Transfer Tax Affidavits; these are not public record. Our computer image index dates back to January 1981, and we are adding more records and images daily. We would eventually like to have all of the records back to 1853 indexed and imaged.
In addition, this office also collects the transfer taxes for Grand Traverse County and the State of Michigan. Transfer tax is determined by the amount of consideration on a deed.
Our office is located in the Governmental Center, 400 Boardman Ave, Traverse City, MI 49684. Our hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. We are open during the lunch hour.
