GTSO Mobile Application

App Arrest Icon

On February 3rd, 2014 the Grand Traverse Sheriff's Office will officially kicked off the use of it's new mobile app, "AppArrest".  AppArrest allows the Sheriff's Office to communicate to the public about vital information. Via the app, the community will receive our news releases, they can search through a national sex offender list, see a map of the crimes in our jurisdiction, get weather advisories, submit a tip, report an abandoned vehicle, commend an officer and more.

Information about users of AppArrest is not captured by the Sheriff's Office and the host company only captures the telephone number and wireless carrier of the user.  The user information is not shared with any third party and AppArrest does not carry advertisements.  Any effort on behalf of the Sheriff's Office to gain information about the user of the app would require we go through the normal and legal process of gaining that information.

If a user so chooses, they may provide contact information while interacting with the Sheriff's Office via the app so we may contact them if they wish.  If no contact information is provided during the submitting of information to the Sheriff's Office through the app, the IP address is the only information shown at our Office.  Again, the Sheriff's Office would be required to follow legal guidelines in obtaining additional information about the user through an IP address.

The app is free of charge to the user!  Just go to your play store or market place on your mobile device and search “Grand Traverse Sheriff’s Office”.  You will see an icon of a Gold star on a flag background.  Click on it to download the app.

We are excited about the kick off of APPArrest and look forward to using the newest technology to communicate with the community.
