News Releases
The Grand Traverse Sheriff's Office responds to emergency situations on a daily basis resulting in the handling of thousands of complaints annually. Monday through Friday the Sheriff's Office sends a "News Release" to the local media, including but not limited to TV 9&10, TV 7&4, WTCM, and the Traverse City Record Eagle. On occasion that News Release states there is no news, meaning that there has not been any significant event handled by the Sheriff's Office that was deemed to be urgent that the public be aware of.If a significant event does occur, the Sheriff's Office constructs a News Release and emails that release to the local media for the media to follow up on if desired. Also, the local reporters will contact the Sheriff's Office and make inquiries about incidents they have interest in reporting on.
The Grand Traverse Sheriff's Office is committed to keeping the community informed of the significant events that the Sheriff's Office handles’. The Sheriff's Office uses an automated news release system known as One Call Now. This system allows us to release news and information quickly and by email and telephone. If you are a news agency and would like to be added to the list of agencies already receiving releases please email us at info@gtsheriff.org.
