Office Of Highway Safety Enforcement Grant
For the last several years the Grand Traverse Sheriff's Office has partnered with the Office of Highway Safety (OHSP) to promote traffic safety through overtime enforcement efforts. The Sheriff's Office works with the Traverse City PoliceDepartment, the Leelanau County Sheriff's Office, and the Michigan State Police through targeted enforcement efforts to increase traffic safety. OHSP Enforcement efforts focus on OWI enforcement, Seat belt enforcement, and Intersection enforcement. The concept of this enforcement is highly visible enforcement activity aimed at increasing awareness of enforcement to reduce accidents and increase seat belt use. Below are the areas that the OHSP enforcement efforts have been focused.

In addition to the above enforcement efforts, the Sheriff's Office receives funds from OHSP to purchase car seats and bike helmets. The Sheriff's Office partners with Safe Kids to purchase the car seats and helmets as well as provide specialized instruction on car seat usage.
The Grand Traverse Sheriff's Office has always and will always keep traffic safety a main priority. We would like to thank the Office of Highway Safety Planning for their continued support of this effort. Please visit the Office of Highway Safety Webster
