Dog License Information
Dog licenses are required for dogs over four months of age, for newly purchased or acquired dogs. and for those dogs just becoming a Michigan resident.
New licenses can be purchased at either the County Treasurer's Office or from the following Grand Traverse County veterinarians:

• Animal Medical Center
• Banfield Pet Hospital
• VCA - Cherry Bend Animal Hospital
• Clarke-Everett Dog & Cat Hospital
• Companion Animal Hospital

• Grand Traverse Veterinary

• Northwood Animal Hospital

Reasons for licensing:
- Excellent identification - It allows us the information to provide to individuals or Animal Control the ability to notify you when your lost pet is found.
- It ensures that your dog is rabies vaccinated.
- It provides proof that the dog legally belongs to you.
- It's the law.
Microchip implantation and registration for dogs are available. Contact your veterinarian for more information.
