In a cooperative effort between the VA and Grand Traverse County, transportation services are offered free of charge for veterans with a scheduled VA medical facility appointment(s) if the veteran is incapable or has no other way to travel to the appointment.
Transportation is provided on a case by case basis with services provided by VA certified and authorized Volunteer Drivers. Trips will vary based upon availability of drivers, seats, and in some cases road conditions. Please be sure to contact our office as soon as possible to schedule a seat, space is limited.
Depending on the needs of the riders, which changes with each ride, our volunteer drivers are only authorized to pick veterans up at the following locations.

Grand Rapids Home for Veterans
This program is not equipped to transport veterans who are wheelchair bound, oxygen dependent, and who are not ambulatory (unable to walk, get in and out of the van, etc.) without assistance from another person.
Veterans who receive transportation services from this program are not eligible for VA travel pay benefits. For more information regarding this program please contact the transportation coordinator at our office.
