After Hours Care:

If you are having symptoms of a Medical Emergency (loss of vision, numbness, slurred speech, etc...) seek medical attention at your Private Medical Provider Emergency Room, or the Urgent Care Walk-in Clinic.

I had my exam at my doctor. Can I get birth control here?

We welcome transfer clients into our clinic. Many prescription health insurance plans do not cover birth control. You must have the following to be considered a transfer client:

1) A pelvic exam within the last year
2) A prescription from your physician for your method of birth control
3) A copy of your most recent pap smear and a summary of your exam
4) A medical history form (to be completed here)
5) An appointment - please call 922-4630

I am worried about confidentiality?

All clients, including adolescents, have a right to full confidentiality. Staff will not acknowledge any clients participation in the reproductive health clinic without the clear verbal or written consent of the client. Sign in sheets will be designed and maintained in such a way as to assure client confidentiality. No invoices or statements of services will be sent to the client's home that could jeopardize confidentiality.

Confidentiality will be broken as required by law. Such examples would be to report child abuse as required under the Child Protection Law and the reporting of communicable diseases as required under The Michigan Public Health Code, Communicable Disease Law.

Teens have the same rights of confidentiality as adults do. Parents permission is not needed to obtain an appointment with our clinic. The teens income will be used to determine the fee for service with most teens on a "donation" basis. Invoices, bills or statements of service will not be sent to the teen's home that could jeopardize confidentiality.

The Pill

There are many types of birth control pills. The practitioner will help decide which one is best for you. Most pills have a combination of estrogen and progesterone. All have three weeks of birth control pills followed by one week of reminder pills (sugar pills). During the week of reminder pills you generally can expect your period.

Reproductive Health

The Reproductive Health Clinic serves males and females of reproductive age. Services include initial and annual exams, Pap smears, pregnancy tests, tests and treatment for sexually transmitted infections and HIV testing. All methods of birth control (pill, condoms, diaphragm, IUD, Depo, patch, ring, etc.) are available. Medicaid and Plan First! are accepted and charges for others are on a sliding scale. No one will be denied services because of inability to pay.
