


Housing Initiative
In an effort to further the GTCLBA's mission to utilize tax-reverted properties, acquired properties and other resources for affordable housing and economic development opportunities through collaboration with community organizations and local governmental units the GTCLBA has recently expanded its efforts in supporting affordable housing by working with a local housing stakeholder group to develop an innovative and sustainable financing model using the proceeds of the sale of tax foreclosed properties to capitalize a fund for affordable housing. This replicable model drew the attention of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, which matched the initial amount of proceeds available in the tax foreclosure fund in the fall of 2010 through the highly competitive Sustainable Community Challenge Grant program. The new Affordable Housing Trust Fund is the outcome of this work.Effective January 1, 2011 the GTCLBA will be administering housing programs made possible through the Michigan State Housing and Development Authority, including the following programs:
