GTCLBA Brownfield Assessment Coalition
The Grand Traverse County Land Bank Authority, acting as the lead applicant, is seeking to develop a coalition of eligible entities to secure US EPA Assessment Grant funds to serve communities within Grand Traverse County. Assessment grants may be used for developing inventories of brownfields, prioritizing sites, conducting community involvement activities, and conducting site assessments and cleanup planning related to brownfield sites.
Potential coalition partners include, but are not limited to, the City of Traverse City and Charter Township of Garfield Joint Recreation Authority, City of Traverse City, Garfield Charter Township, and the Brownfield Redevelopment Authority. If awarded funds, coalition partners will develop a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) documenting the coalition’s site selection process prior to the expenditure of any funds. The purpose of the MOA is for coalition members to agree internally about the distribution of funds and the mechanisms for implementing the assessment work.
A draft of the grant proposal will be available for public review and comment starting November 14. The drafts will be available on this site when available and at the offices of the Grand Traverse County Planning and Development Offices on the third floor of the Governmental Center, 400 Boardman Ave, Traverse City, MI 49684 during normal business hours being Monday through Friday 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. We ask that any interested party review the draft documents and make any comments they deem appropriate.
Written comments will be accepted up until the close of business on Friday, November 23, 2011. Written comments should be sent to the attention of Ms. Jean Derenzy, Planning and Development, 400 Boardman Avenue, Traverse City, MI 49684.
